March HOWL 2023

March 2023 HOWL

A message from the President

Dear SEA-PAH members,

Recently an article came out in The Stranger featuring SEA-PAH and myself. The article did a great job highlighting our organization in local media, but there’s some accolades that didn’t make the final cut. I personally want to take this opportunity to thank:

Baus Yukon, Sir J, and Nightcat for their leadership, guidance, and mentorship which helped many members, myself included, grow in the community.

The 2020 board, who kept the organization going at great expense to themselves in excruciatingly challenging times.

The 2021 board, who stepped in and stabilized a hemorrhaging community and the financial donors who kept the org solvent when membership was at an all time low.

And the 2022 board and on, who got the pleasure of bringing the community back to in person events and seeing us heal. Have we mentioned Camp K9 is returning?

I also want to thank our members and volunteers. SEA-PAHs membership numbers have grown tremendously since the heat of the pandemic. We have rebounded spectacularly with our in person events, surpassing many of our expectations. This goes to show the dedication our volunteers have in the organization, and the good will our members have spreading the word about us. Word of mouth is one of our most powerful tools at our disposal, and our members have not disappointed us at all. Remember our community and our members are, and will always be, our most important strength.

One Love, One Pack,

Pup Flash

Meet the Board!

Diesel

Director at Large

Born and raised in South California, Diesel made his way and found his home in the PNW. One of the more senior members of our current board, he enjoys advising the newer board members and greeting new SEA-PAH members. In his free time Diesel enjoys working on his cars, taking long walks around the city, and spending time with his sweet bio-dog Maxx. Don’t be afraid to say ‘Hi’ to this pup!

Fenrir

He/Him

Director at Large

Fenrir moved from the Deep South and has been marking trees in the PNW since 2011 and has been variably active in the pup scene ever since. Most of those early years were spent working at Doghouse Leathers, for his first 5 years, where he most likely helped your dad try on that cock ring he brought home.

Fenrir now enjoys being a service doggo and works with people and strengthening organizations as a Human Resources specialist.

When not being a boring hooman- Fenrir loves gaming of all varieties and could spend hours talking with you about D&D/ttrpg’s and Star Trek. Fenrir also loves cinematography, video editing, graphic design, and cooking/baking- he's definitely the one that stole the cookie from the cookie jar.

Seal

He/Him

Director at Large

After growing up in the cornfields of Illinois and looking for a change in scenery, Seal made his voyage to the PNW in 2015. Discovering pup and finding a part of himself that he knew he needed to embrace, plus having been a part of the furry community since 2006, he attended his first convention, MFF, in 2008. Then, in 2014, he joined their security staff. He worked hard to give back to the community that helped him find himself, by ensuring everyone had a good time at the convention.

Outside of the woods, Seal enjoys tackling tough projects and finding creative solutions as a Building Manager.

When not having to deal with broken HVAC units, he enjoys working on creative and scary animatronics. Having worked at a variety of haunted houses since the age of 15, he’s now been the Director of Operations at a local haunted house for the last 6 years. On top of that, he loves engineering, gaming, D&D, going to the theater, and seeing what makes things tick!

Domino

He/They

Ambassador

Domino was made in a small town in Colorado using locally sourced goods, then baked at 120°F for 15 Arizona summers, and quickly dipped in a mid-COVID Oregon coating before landing at your local Seattle Barkery. All culminating in a sweet, brightly colored and highly caloric Puppy A La Domino.

Though New to the Seattle Puppy scene, Domino has been barking around the Arizona furry, cosplay, ABDL, and drag scenes since high school. This social Pupper-fly picked up many crafty skills during that time; From fine arts and drag makeup, to kinky cookie baking and costume crafting.

This playful pup is an avid gamer and always finds time for some fun in the day. If you saw their Best in Show performance, you'll know how big of a plushy collection they have. Mostly consisting of a mix of Pokemon, ghosts, dragons and hyenas.

Currently they can be found pup-wrangling both at their day job and at Sea-PaHs Moshes. Through their varied social experiences and circles, they seek to keep Sea-PaH as a warm welcoming place for all pet-kind. If you ever see their bright green self getting lost around Seattle, come say hi!

Tye

He/Him

Public relations

After being born and raised in Chicago and spending a decade in Florida, Pup Tye finally made his way to the Emerald City. A professional seamen, Tye has learned to never focus on what you can’t do, but to focus on what you can do.

Tye was delighted to finally join SEA-PAH after seeing it online for years, and is ecstatic to have the opportunity to serve on the board. Our Puppy Relations guru, Tye’s favorite thing is to attend events and meet all different members of our beautiful community.

Outside of SEA-PAH Tye loves exploring the outdoors, crafting, and playing Pokémon. An avid knitter and tie dyed, Tye loves making hats for friends and packmates. Tye has various houseplants, an aquarium, and his bio dog named Huffle.

Nova

He/Him

This dog/That dog

Treasurer

You’ve maybe seen Nova around if you’ve attended Midwest Furfest or Biggest Little FurCon the last few years.  I’ve been a staff member for MFF for the last 10 years in Crowd Control where I may have asked you to get in an elevator, stand in a line, or thanked you for your patience.  I’ve been the Director of that department for the last 2 years.  For BLFC, this will be my 4th year, and first as Director of their Crowd Control department.

I started my journey into puppydom back in 2006 at IML where I got to try on my very first pup hood from Mr. S, and I was hooked (Which I still have).  That was the gateway it took to get into furry, and the 45 cons I’ve attended since is a haze of alcohol, no sleep, and good times.

I moved from Virginia to San Jose back in 2011, and then to the Seattle area in 2014 where I put down roots.  I’ve attended several CampK9s, many socials, and deepened friendships with other SEA-PAH board members.  This is my first year as treasurer, and I hope to live up to the excellent work that others have done in this role and look forward to meeting new people and going to events.

In the real world, I work as a sales engineer for a Cybersecurity startup and building the organization I work for.  When I’m not working, you can usually find me doing stuff with my retro PCs, gaming, working on one of his Chevrolet Corvairs, or juggling the polycule.

Mint

they/them

Secretary (pro tempore “pro tem”)

Say hi to Mint! This sweet pup hails from the wilds of Idaho and discovered the pup community during the 2020 lockdown by attending digital events put on from both Spokane and Seattle. After moving to Seattle in 2021, they dove head-first into the local pup and furry scene and can be spotted both at events and behind the scenes working to make the community a fun and welcoming place for everyone. They are a trained singer and are passionate about gaming, linguistics, and queer history. Sightings of Mint have been reported at light rail station grand openings, Seattle Sounders games, and furry cons across the country and they can be tamed with an offering of those pink and white circus animal cookies (you know the ones).

Sp!ke

He/Him/All and None

Vice President

Ten years ago in 2013 he discovered SEA-PAH through Best In Show, and started getting primarily involved within the puppy community. He served his first two years on the board 2015-2016 - first as a Director at Large, and the next year as Secretary. After taking a bit of a hiatus for a few years, he rejoined the board in 2022 as Ambassador to contribute to the collaborative effort of getting the community back on its feet. This year, he is focused on strengthening the community, campaigning to bring in more involvement from the membership, and focusing on events we’ve brought back after so many years - such as Unleashed and Camp K9.

Sp!ke (Member #0018) moved to Seattle WA from the Bay Area CA in 2010 after having gotten heavily involved in the furry community. Whether it was local community events, or traveling across the country to different furry conventions with Kitty Loves Monster, Sp!ke was always about the adventure and the journey.

Sp!ke is also known for his affinity for the dark arts and music. He discovered his passion for DJing in 2011, playing with many different genres ranging from industrial, house, wave, and Drum and Bass. Aside from DJing, he has played bass for a melodic death metal band, and produces his own gritty-electronic music.

Flash

He/Him/His

President

Pup Flash was born a fully fledged kinkster after moving to Seattle in 2018, with no interesting prior history on record. The FBI tells us these documents are classified; the only record they could share is that he’s definitely a good boy.

Flash joined the SEA-PAH board in 2021 after several years of being a bystander in the community, and strives to make sure others are able to find their home here as he did. Flash’s dream is to be the role model he needed when he was younger.

Flash is a DM in the bedroom and on the tabletop, and passes his leisure time outside of the throne room as Flash Ketchum, Pokémon master.

To all SEA-PAH Barkroom members

Per a vote made in the 2023 AGM, the Barkroom will soon be leaving ownership from SEA-PAH and moving into the ownership of the chat members.  This decision was made with intent to allow the community to have more direct control over the chat. Additionally, this allows the chat to have more freedom outside of SEA-PAH's policies.

On Saturday, March 25th, the "SEA-PAH Official Barkroom" will be renamed to “The Emerald City Barkroom”. Current chat members do not need to do anything besides be aware of the name/icon changes. At this time, current chat rules will remain in place during transition. Chat rules are subject to change after transition and community member input.

Currently, the administrative team includes Baus Yukon (@bausyukon), Edgar Allan "Eddie" Pup (@Edgarallanpup), Hunter ColorPunk (@HunterCub_ColorPunk), and Rosco Goat (@RoscoGoat). The SEA-PAH Barkroom's former moderators will continue to operate as current moderators as well (outside of those choosing to leave the role in light of the ownership change). However, we strongly encourage other community members to join the moderation team! If interested, please fill out the attached form: https://forms.gle/cR5TdNmjftV4HEU17

If you have any additional questions/concerns before March 25th, please email the SEA-PAH board at board@seapah.org. You can also contact The Emerald City Barkroom administrative team at their aforementioned telegram handles.
