August Howl 2024

August 2024 Howl

Announcements:

New board members

According to the SEA-PAH bylaws, Article IV, section G, regarding Later Vacancies: A vacancy in any office except President which occurs after the first three months of the officer’s term or in which there are no more members who received votes for that office during the most recent election shall be filled by a member elected by the Board of Directors. Since the election concluded in January 2024 and there were no more applicants who received votes at that time, the board put out notices for board of directors applications.

After posting notices to apply for the board in the June, mid June, and July Howl newsletters the board interviewed 7 competitive candidates. While we wish we could take all 7, the SEA-PAH board is proud to finally announce our new board members!

New board member intros:

Pup Pothos (They/He/She)

Pothos is wildly excited to be joining the board. Hailing from North Carolina, they moved to the PNW in the summer of 2021 and found a home and family thanks to the wonderful community of pups they were lucky enough to be thrust into. They have professional experience working in nonprofit administration with various organizations, including HIV services, theatrical administration, and get-out-the-vote campaigning. Since moving here, they have continued to develop themselves as an organizational leader and look forward to using these skills to serve this amazing community and organization. Outside of their pup hood, Pothos is a martial artist, studying Aikido, Iaido, historic rapier, and Karate.

Hunter ColorPunk (She/her)

Hunter is a MtF trans woman whom is both a puppy, and saber khat.  She was born and raised in California, but originally cut her teeth in the leather and kink communities while residing in Phoenix, AZ.  Her experience with the organization goes back to its founding, having been a part of A-PAH (Arizona Pups and Handlers) who offered guidance to the Seattle community on how to initially structure things for a successful future.

She has been involved in all aspects of the community including acting as a former Vice president, administrating various social spaces the community has used to communicate ideas, helping expand diversity and inclusivity, and direct mentorship  of various individuals

Her goals for this year are to continue to help the community be successful in its endeavors to provide fun spaces and opportunities for us to congregate, share ideas, and explore the world of kink.  She’s ALWAYS looking to help others smile, blush, feel seen/heard, feel included, or otherwise be a part of the SEAPAH family….and loves being respectfully approached.

Biscuit (He/Him)

Biscuit is a leather service dog, bootblack, and all-around geek who loves footnotes, bowties, and cookies. He discovered leather via the petplay community in 2016, dove in headfirst, and hasn’t looked back since. He flags houndstooth on the left, and grey, hunter green, mint green, and puppy on the right. Biscuit is also the head of the Volunteers and Info Desk teams at International Ms. Leather & Bootblack weekend, a former board member of Seattle Pups and Handlers (SEA-PAH) and Seattle boys of Leather (SboL), and bakes an excellent chocolate chip cookie (shortbread available on request).

When Biscuit isn't providing service to his Daddy-Sir JJ or the community, he can be found playing video games of mixed quality, sniffing out boots and leathers in need of a treat, or exploring for new kinks.

Cole Foxè (He/Him)

Hey all! Been a fox online for God knows how long. After moving to Seattle, I discovered a vibrant and wonderful community of animals and have been trying my best be a good service fox for the community. Stepping up and helping out in any way I can! Recently, I've had the honor of joining the board of pups, and I'm excited to contribute even more to our fantastic community. When I'm not volunteering, I love working on synths and binge-watching retro tech channels on YouTube. If you ever wanted to know what the fox says, don't be afraid to give me a shout!

Dress code for venues

As per recent political events in Washington, venues are able to change their dress code to allow for more freedom. The following dress code is pertinent for our event venues:

The Cuff: Thongs, jockstraps and shirtless are all great! Genitals need to be covered.

CC’s: Patrons are free to express themselves with what they choose to wear or not to wear.

Wildrose: Tops and bottoms must be worn, please.

This does not give anybody permission to perform inappropriate behavior at each venue. You can be asked to leave by the venue for violating their code of conduct. Please report any violations to venue staff first.

Camp K9

September 12th - 15th

(Note: Tent site reservations may sell out by the time this comes out)

Time to get your tails on the trails, Camp K9 registration is open for all SEA-PAH members! Reserve your site and buy your tickets now before this mutt anticipated event sells out. SEA-PAH members get discounted tickets and priority registration over non-members. Events like this are only possible because of your annual $30 membership fee, so please let us take a moment and thank you from the bottom of our paws for being part of our pack.

This year’s theme will be the hanky code! Members will select their hanky color after the opening ceremony, and that’s the team you’ll be on for the rest of the weekend! While this is the theme, please know we aren’t strictly following any hanky code guidelines and you are free to choose whatever color you like best. But they make a great conversation starter!

An admission ticket (member or non-member) will need to be purchased for each member of your party. Tickets will be checked at the gate. If, after you've done your initial reservation, you have additional people joining you they will need to purchase their own admission and state on the form your name and campsite number. We only have 150 tickets total and once they're gone that's it - the event is capped! Any more and we'll have the Paw Patrol shutting us down. Please note each tent site is allowed only one tent.

Camp K9 merchandise can also be purchased when registering. This includes Camp K9 frisbees, pins, and T-shirts that we will tie dye at Camp. You can also make a donation to Lambert House while registering.

Members can check their email for the registration link. Registration for non SEA-PAH members opens up on July 17th. You may view photos of the tent sites taken by the board of directors on our google drive. If you have any questions you can reach us at board@seapah.org.
